Scotland's legendary 500-mile loop from Inverness: the Bealach na Bà pass to Applecross, the wild north-west coast to Durness, and back along the top of Britain. Allow 4-5 days.
Most first-timers take four to five days over the NC500, and the route rewards going anti-clockwise: you meet the Bealach na Bà, Britain's greatest road climb, early, and save the gentler east coast for the run home. Book accommodation ahead in summer; wild-camp respectfully if you're in a motorhome.
